He also fits in so well in his team Real Madrid, with a beautiful chemistry with the players that ensures the passes come in flawlessly.
Real Madrid 3-1 Chelsea
In their game on Wednesday, Benzema scored a hat trick rallying Real Madrid to a 3-1 win against Chelsea. Chelsea’s lone goal came from Kai Havertz. The game with Chelsea was a first-leg game for the UCL quarter-finals and was played at Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid are currently leading in aggregate with a 3-1 aggregate lead over Chelsea.
Benzema is in His Prime
Karim Benzema is on a roll. He has scored his second hat trick in the UCL this season, sending chills down the spines of big teams such as Paris Saint-Germain and now Chelsea FC. It is clear that Benzema is in his prime with his impressive performance. He’s 34 and it seems still has a lot to give in football.
Why Real Madrid is Such a Good Fit for Benzema
Real Madrid has become the perfect team for Benzema as it combines legacy with an intent to steer and evolve into the future. Real also has a team that flows so flawlessly together giving their attack an advantage. Their right and left flanks are well-manned and their midfield is sturdy, not forgetting an ever-impenetrable defense. Real Madrid has also gotten an opportunity to shine and hone its skills ever since the downfall of Spanish giants Barcelona FC. We also do forget that Real Madrid is a well-monied team that has the ability to invest amicably in its squad and play.
What Led to Chelsea's Loss in the UCL Quarter Final First Leg?
Chelsea, as the defending champions of the UCL, are under increasing pressure to perform and retain their title win. The team is well structured to do so but seems to have a lapse in their defensive capabilities. We feel that Chelsea overly depends on their goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, maybe leaving the defense a little porous thinking that Mendy will easily sort everything out himself. Mendy is an impeccable goalkeeper but he needs an equally better defense to perform well.
Chelsea: A Good Team that Needs a Little Tweaking
Overall, Chelsea have been performing very well in both the UCL and Premier League and we see no reason why they cannot turn their loss around in the second leg of the UCL quarter-finals. They have an impeccable team and a lineup that would successfully take on and defeat any club in the world. What they need is a little bit more morale and a sharpening of their skills both defensively and in the attack.
