The La Liga is finally home as Barcelona beat Espanyol to lift the title for the 27th time. The win is a huge victory for manager Xavi Hernandez and marks his first La Liga title win. Barcelona are now back and they only need one man to complete their squad: the G.O.A.T Lionel Messi.

Barcelona Beat Espanyol in the Catalan Derby to Win the La Liga Title

Barca came out hopeful and steaming with fervor as they went on to beat Espanyol 4-2 in the Catalan derby to win the La Liga title. Barca were all-in and secured what is a hard-fought title win after a tumultuous couple of years that culminated in club legend, Lionel Messi leaving for PSG.

Real Madrid Lose Out on La Liga Title

Real Madrid are now resigned to second with 71 points, 14 behind Barca who now have 85 points. The gap is impossible to bridge, hence Barcelona are the La Liga 22-23 winners! Real are now concentrating on getting to the Champions League Final.

Robert Lewandowski brought the La Liga title home thanks to his impeccable brace that put Barcelona ahead. Lewandowski scored his first goal in the 11th minute, following it up with his second in the 40th minute. Lewandowski has now scored 20 goals for Barca in La Liga so far.

Alejandro Balde scored his in the 20th minute, as Jules Kounde sealed the lead for Barca in the 53rd minute. Espanyol's goals came from Javi Puado in the 73rd minute and Joselu in stoppage time.

First La Liga Win for Manager Xavi Hernandez

Perhaps the most thrilled person in Barcelona is manager Xavi Hernandez. The win is his first La Liga win as manager.

He's a former Barca player and the win was a full-circle moment for his career. Xavi has done an impeccable job of bringing Barca back from the brink of extinction.
