The Mare of Easttown is a somewhat sad story of a detective who tries to solve a devastating murder while struggling to hold her own life together. Mare, a detective in Easttown navigates several crises while trying to do her best job in solving the murder and also looking for two missing girls. The show stars Kate Winslet who plays Mare.

Easttown’s Missing and Dead

The story is set in a small town in Delaware called Easttown. Easttown hasn’t got much going for it but is struck by several cases of missing girls that are made even worse when one girl is found dead. A young mother is found in the woods dead, shot in the head. Mare, as the lead detective in Easttown, has to solve this murder while still looking for two other girls that went missing.

Mare’s Tragedy-filled Life

In her own life, Mare is dealing with loss and a broken family. She is fresh off a divorce and is trying to hold whatever is left of her family together. The show also talks of mental health and suicide and Mare struggles to deal with the loss of her family members who committed suicide. Her life is a tragedy and she does her best to hold everything together for everyone’s sake.

Our Rating

The Mare of Easttown is a sad story that ends in triumph. It solves a huge murder mystery while concurrently depicting the tragedy-filled life of Mare. Our rating for the Mare of Easttown is 8/10. The ending is shocking and unpredictable while the entire show is a breadcrumbs' unraveling of several mysteries and issues pertaining to Mare’s life. We definitely recommend it but be warned as it is rated TV-MA.
