The Kenyan music industry has come under a lot of scrutiny recently due to the unfortunate story of Colonel Mustafa with some saying that the industry has let him down. Kenyans were shocked to see a video of Mustafa doing construction work - locally known as 'mjengo' - with many alluding that it could have been a publicity stunt or a scene from him shooting a music video.

As it turns out Colonel Mustafa's mom is ailing and is suffering from cancer. Reports indicate that she has lymphoma which is a cancer of the lymphatic system. As we all know, cancer can be a very expensive disease to treat, especially when it comes to chemotherapy and according to Colonel Mustafa, this was the reason that he is broke and at such a low point. Colonel Mustafa is known for hit songs such as 'Dodoma Singida' and Kenyans were shocked to see him in such a dilapidated state.

Well Wishers Raise Over KES 600,000 for Colonel Mustafa and His Ailing Mom

In comes well-wishers, organized and led by one @FauzKhalid on Twitter and they managed to raise over KES 600,000 for Mustafa and his mom. The group quickly managed to rally Kenyans and other well-wishers to Mustafa's cause reaching an impressive amount by Saturday evening.

The money was sent directly to Mustafa's phone number, even maxing out when it reached the mobile money limit. The well wishers have anticipated that Mustafa will register a pay bill to solve the issue.

Producer Tedd Josiah Comes to Mustafa's Defense

Renowned Kenyan producer, Tedd Josiah, came to Colonel Mustafa's defense after some people were heartlessly laughing at Mustafa for his difficult situation. Tedd shared that he's had two aunts die from cancer and that he also went broke back in 2009 after his career hit rock bottom.

In his case, he said that it was due to unpaid royalties by MCSK (Music Copyright Society of Kenya) and also labels who'd refused to pay him his dues, including a German label. Tedd shared that he stands with Colonel Mustafa and discouraged anyone from laughing or trivializing his very difficult decision.
