Without much flair or pomp, Apple came out to announce a few products and spec bumps for some of their product lineups. The following is what Apple announced in their March 8 Event.
A New Shade for the iPhone 13
Last year’s flagship, Apple 13, got a new shade: alpine green. The new color of the iPhone 13 blends an almost olive green hue with subtle toning to almost match a military green. The new shade will be available for iPhone 13 and 13 Pro models. The new color iPhone 13s can now be pre-ordered and will be delivered on March 18.
A New iPhone Special Edition (SE)
Apple’s commemorative iPhone, the SE, got a new iteration where it will now feature spec bumps including the new M1 chip, a camera upgrade, and overall better performance. More interestingly, the new iPhone SE will feature Apple’s new break-resistant glass both at the front and back. The SE will also feature a 4.6” screen and a home button with Touch ID. The new iPhone SE is also ipv6 dust and water-resistant. It will retail at $429. The SE is available for Pre-Order and will be delivered on March 18.
An All-New iPad Air
iPad Air, the basic version of the iPad got an upgrade as Apple brought its new M1 chip and iPad OS 15 to the Air. The iPad Air will now feature increased processing power, higher performance speeds, and better graphics. Apple also brought 5G capability to the iPad Air and a 12MP front camera with Center Stage. The iPad Air will be available in cellular and WiFi versions. The iPad Air will retail for $599 and is available for pre-order. It will be delivered on March 18.
Mac Studio and Studio Display
Apple went all-in this time around introducing a new Mac, the Mac Studio, and a new 27” display, the Studio Display. The Mac Studio is a headless Mac that will feature an entirely new and enhanced chip, the M1 Ultra. M1 Ultra is the latest tier of Apple Silicon’s M1 chips following the M1, M1 Max, and M1 Pro. Apple Silicon is essentially Apple’s entire in-house created chips and processors.
The Mac Studio will feature up to 128GB of Unified Memory which is memory for things like graphics processing. It will include numerous ports for connectivity including USB A and C ports, thunderbolt connectors, HDMI, and so on. It will also feature WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5. It will also come with 6 speakers with spatial audio.
The Studio Display, on its part, features a 27” PRO Res display with a 12 Megapixel camera with Center Stage. It will also be a 5K display that is essentially an LCD. The Mac Studio and Studio Display will be sold separately. They are both available for pre-order and will be delivered on March 18.
